2015… The Year That Was…

It is the end of the year already! It is unbelievable how fast time flies (however, sometimes when you are stuck at your desk 12 hours a day, you want that time thing to fly by super fast!) I love the feeling you get at the end of year, thinking about how things were, sometimes learning from them (operative word being ‘sometimes’), planning out how the year to come will be, and planning out the end of the year parties in parallel, which finally gets decided on the morning of the 31st. That is something that will never change… it’s like tradition.

Although there is one more month left in the year, my girls, Upasna, Shruti and I, thought that this is the best time to look back and reminisce the year that’s gone by, and that’s what we’re doing for the December edition of the #BlogAlong… reminiscing the year that went by.

2015 has been a super eventful year for me. It has been a year of hits and misses, joy and sadness, leisure, travel and back-breaking crazy work…. basically a mixed bag of anything and everything you can possibly find. So let the reminiscing begin!

The Doobs, The Turkey and The Greek

Travelling was so much fun this year! We started the year with a whirlwind trip to Dubai. I say whirlwind because Doobs was almost like an impromptu trip. Decided one day, got our tickets the next and our friends to help us out with the visas on the third day. Within two weeks we were there, partying it up with our super amazing friends in the super amazing Dubai. I never ended up writing about it because were so busy socializing that we didn’t get to see too much of the city. However, we did manage to do the desert safari which was ridiculously fun!

It was time to be The Turkish Foodie mid year as and bum around on the beaches of the Greek archipelago as Hubby and I traveled to Turkey and Greece. Thinking about the food in Turkey still leaves me salivating. Check out my Turkish Foodie series to relive the mouth-watering treats that Turkey has to offer.

Disclaimer: Do NOT read this post anytime close to meal time. It’ll just get you depressed.

I cannot pick a single thing from the trip that I can consider the highlight, but the trek from Fira to Oia.. that was something!!!

The Teary Good-byes

This year wasn’t so good, on the health front, for my family and friends. I had to say good-bye to a few too many people who were dear to me. Hopefully the coming year brings with it health and happiness and marks an end to the gloomy phase.

I was lucky to feature photographs by Sanjeev uncle (who lost his battle with Cancer and left us earlier this year) with the 5 Day Black and White Photography Challenge. You can check out his wonderful pictures here. Do not miss the last picture as it almost personification of him.

Day 5

The 3Girls and a #BlogAlong

One of the best things that happened in 2015 is the #BlogAlong with my loulies.. Upasna, Shruti.  I always look forward to the first Sunday of the month when we open the #BlogAlong. As Shruti said in her post, I do play the role of the friendly #BlogAlong alarm clock. Why? Cuz I louuurve writing and inviting fellow bloggers to write with me. A big big thank you to everyone who has linked with us so far. We hope you continue to do so.

The Little Lotta

This is the year that The Little Lotta made her first appearance. Actually she has been around for over two decades, but appeared in the public realm earlier this year. I have no one but my folks to thank for that as they knew about my special talents and insatiable love for food since I was a kid! It’s been a year of exploring great food… I could do this as a full-time job! (I hope someone who can give me that job is reading this!)

The Misses

Unfortunately this year I was not able to do the Bangalore Marathon and that really hurt! Although I started well at the Pinkathon this year, the end of the year my running took a major hit. I wanted to make the Bangalore Marathon an annual event for myself, however, this year it was not to be. Howeverrrrrr, I am determined not to continue this in the coming year.

Ahhh… there were so many goods, bads and the crazzziiieeeesss this year… and there still is a whole month left! (I guess we shall get to that when we get to that.) This post was just a highlight of some fun times this year. There were a lot of other things that made this year so special too.. the construction for my parent’s house (and my first ever solo project) got completed and my parents moving in was a huge achievement for me. One of my best buddies tying the knot and all the madness there. I wish her nothing but the best in her married life. The kitchen has also been pretty busy this year… and will continue to be with all the series that I have going on, perhaps more! So stay tuned!

  1. Wow thats a lot of stuff Pooja, so much fun and emotion; thanks for sharing, reading through your year got me thinking about my year and how I’ve almost forgotten all that happened this year. I’m looking forward writing my own recap and linking up. 🙂

    1. Hi Freya! So thrilled you stopped by 🙂 I’d almost forgotten all the stuff as well. It was so much fun to go back to the blog posts, the pictures on the phone etc to put this piece together. I’m looking forward to reading your flashback as well! Cheers!
