Blog-a-Versary Reflections..

72 posts, 12 categories, so many new friends and tonnes of love and one award recently… Happy first Blog-a-Versary to me!!! Lalalala!! I fell like an actor on an award stage thanking everyone for the love and encouragement. It was exactly a year ago that I finally pushed that ‘publish’ button on my first post.. Decadence of the Banoffee, after a lot of self doubt of course. Since then, there has been no looking back.

A few things that blogging has taught me…

1. I love to sharrreeeee!! The constant ramblings in my head finally have an outlet in a tangible form (kind of therapeutic to get it out). Now whether it is good, bad or ugly? Well… that’s for you to decide.

2. Blogging has improved my writing. I noticed this especially when it came to appraisal time. While others were struggling with writing, I was able to write essays using fancy language to sell my self 😀

3. What’s that! I notice stuff more than I used to.. And remember them..Because I want to write about it.

4. Priorities… Ahem.. Husband will, not be very happy about this, but I’ve stayed home a few Saturday nights to work on my posts.

5. Variety is the spice of life. There is soooooooo much stuff out there. It is so much fun to jazz things up with the sites you visits, the things u see and end up learning so much along the way

6. Don’t be shy.. People love to hear what you have to say. I used to be so apprehensive about commenting on posts, well, not anymore. People love comments (and so do I..*hint* *hint*) and people are nice! That is… unless you are not.

7. I’m such a social butterfly! From ‘twitter huh?!?’ to tweet tweet tweet.. I have become so engrossed in the virtual world. Social media is such a beautiful platform for networking and learning about so many people and so many things. *Addict in the house*

8. My reading has increased. I believed that I was suffering from ADD for the longest time. I used to read a lot as a kid, but lost that habit somewhere along the way. Fortunately, not anymore. The key to being read, is to read, and there is no dearth of amazing material out there to inspire me every single day!

9. Finding my voice and my style.. it isn’t as easy as I thought. When I began blogging, I thought I knew how I wanted to write. A few posts down, I had to accept that I was soooo lost! Although a year into blogging I still haven’t found ‘my style’, but I sure feel that I’m getting somewhere.

It’s been an amazing year of learning, exploring, reading and being read. Here’s to many many more years of rambling, travelling, good food and great friends!

Cheers!

PS – I thought I had made up the term ‘Blog-a-versary’… urrmm.. I was so wrong. That’s the best part about blogging.. there is always something new to discover.
