Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge – Day One – View from Above

Thanks Cee, who asked me to join along in the fun of the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge.  If you don’t know her you should check out her blog.

The rules of Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo (It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph) and then nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge. Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command.

I had been contemplating for a while what my first post should be. Nothing seemed ‘just right’. I guess this is the moment that was waiting for me instead of the other way round.

This picture is from my dear late uncle’s terrace. I remember the first time I came to Mumbai (that I remember of) was almost ten years ago. I was so mesmerized by this view. It was probably the first time I was seeing a skyline like this. I had already decided to enroll into architecture school by that time, and seeing this, made my heart race! Uncle’s house in Dubai had the most amazing view I have ever seen in my life! He lived right across from Bhurj Khalifa on the 52nd floor if I remember correctly. paying through your nose would not guarantee such a great view or even better- the company of Aunty and Uncle.

Now I know Uncle has a much better view, and he gets to share it with his son. A view of all places he’s seen and all he was to. He is in our hearts and souls looking out for us.. But this void that he has left will never be filled. I was looking forward to you being a regular on the blog. Will miss you terribly. Hope you’re at peace and happy wherever you are. Lots and lots of love to you.

Till we meet again….
