The Stories That Are… Vol. 5

As a part of my upcoming Blog-a-versary, I’m reviving an old favourite – ‘The Stories that were..’ series. Somewhere along the way, publishing this series went on to the back burner and got lost somewhere in the archives. Well, it’s time to dig it out and bring it back for I really love this series. It gives me an opportunity to share all the wonderful things that I have come across. As a part of the revival plan, I have a snazzy new cover picture  and a resolve to publish this series bi-monthly.

So, lets not waste anytime and get to it!

 1. Life on My Plate by Upasna – Right from the way she writes to the mouth-watering Instagram updates about #whatsheate, I love everything about Upasna’s blog. She has a way with words which makes her blog so wonderful to read. I am super fortunate to have her as the co-host for the month #BlogAlong we host along with Shruti.

What to look out for – Her amazing post on the Trek to Kareri Lake. It makes me want to go back to the Himalayas. There was a time where I used to go there with my family at least once in two years, but it’s been a while since then… sigh!

 2. Sisterhood of the World Blogger’s Award by Ceece – Ceece and I met on Twitter and have been on several twitter chats together. I loved her blog and nominated her for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger’s Award. She graciously accepted and welcomed everyone into her world. Ceece is an amazing woman who has been through so much in life. This post is an amazing read.

What to look out for – I loved what she wrote for ‘The best advise your Mom ever gave you’. So inspiring.

 3. Journey of an Iconic Indian Sweet – Dharwad Pedha by Anuradha Goel – This one is really close to my heart. I am from Hubli, Dharwad’s twin city and have grown up eating this pedha. I had just assumed that this belonged to my city, and not questioning why it is called Mathrua Pedha. Bliss in ignorance I guess. It makes me very happy to learn that the family that introduced us to this amazing sweet treat is still around.

What to look out for – The pedha! Not just in the post, but somewhere around you. It’s yummmzzz I assure you. Also, it is my moral responsibility to warn you that you cannot have just one pedha. As soon as the first one has been consumed, there is no end in sight.

 4. Walk through Montmarte by Maria G – Oh the memories! A walk through Montmarte took me back to last year when I walked through the streets of Montmarte. It feels so special to walk the streets that famous artists walked and see the sights that they painted. This post is almost exactly how the hubby and I saw Montmarte.

What to look out for – If you go to Montmarte or see the picture of Dalida’s statue carefully, the paint looks worn out at ‘certain places’ 😉 Apparently rubbing her breasts brings good luck. Unfortunately the men who got to touch the real ones, didn’t have any of the luck 😛

5. Indian Moments by Ting – This is a four-part series by Ting about her trip to India. The proud Indian that I am, I HAD to put this in. I think a lot of international tourists are like how Ting was during the visit… the initial culture shock followed by a deep love for the country, which you would never really appreciate until you’ve left.

What to look out for – Adventures and misadventures in Goa, and meeting her special someone 😉

It was so much fun to do this again. I will be back in two weeks with a whole lot more up my sleeve.

This post is a part of the series ‘The Stories that Are..’, which is published bi-monthly. It will be up on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Some hump day reading for you all 🙂 You can check out the first post (when the series was called ‘The Week that Was..’) here. The post also contains links to the archives of all the volumes so far. If you would like to get featured, have suggestions or any comments, do not hesitate to get in touch!
